DAPP Highlights Efforts in Climate, Health, and Education

Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) paid a courtesy call on the Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Mr. Thabo Kawana, represented by Public and Media Relations Assistant Director, Ms. Susan Ndumingu.

This visit underscored DAPP’s significant contributions to national development and its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During the meeting, DAPP Managing Director, Elise Soerensen, highlighted the organization’s diverse initiatives in agriculture, health, education, community development, and fundraising for social causes.

DAPP’s projects are designed to foster sustainable development by engaging and empowering communities, supporting the Zambian Government’s national development goals and the UN SDGs.

In response to climate change challenges, DAPP focuses on aiding rural farmers to increase and diversify production, helping them become more resilient and sustainable.

Their health programs address HIV, TB, and malaria by empowering individuals to make informed health decisions, thus tackling the root causes of these diseases rather than just the symptoms.

Committed to equitable education, DAPP trains teachers to work effectively in rural areas, ensuring that children in these regions receive quality education. They also provide vocational training to former street children and advocate for inmates’ rights, promoting social inclusion and dignity.

Ms. Soerensen emphasized DAPP’s dedication to improving education for the most vulnerable and restoring dignity to marginalized populations through various empowerment programs.

The Information and Media Permanent Secretary, through Ms. Ndumingu, expressed gratitude for DAPP’s efforts, acknowledging the positive impact on the lives of underprivileged communities.

He assured DAPP of the Government’s continued support in their mission to uplift and improve the lives of the less fortunate.
