Zambia and Croatia Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Relations
Zambia’s Ambassador to Italy, who is also accredited to Croatia on a non-residential basis, Mrs. Patricia Chisanga Kondolo, has presented her Letters of Credence to His Excellency Mr. Zoran Milanovic, President of the Republic of Croatia.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Kondolo conveyed warm greetings from President Hakainde Hichilema to the Croatian President, Government, and people. She reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening relations with Croatia.
After presenting her credentials, Ambassador Kondolo highlighted the existing strong ties between Zambia and Croatia and emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration, particularly in economic cooperation.
She identified economic partnership as crucial for Zambia’s development agenda, aimed at improving the livelihoods of its people.
Ambassador Kondolo also addressed the current challenges Zambia faces due to climate change, which has led to drought, food, and energy insecurity.
She underscored the Zambian Government’s commitment to investing in renewable energy, agri-business, processing, tourism, manufacturing, and other economic sectors.
She expressed Zambia’s readiness to partner with both the Croatian Government and the private sector in these areas.
Furthermore, Ambassador Kondolo noted the potential for enhanced collaboration through their joint membership in the United Nations.
She highlighted opportunities for mutual support on issues such as climate change, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and candidatures for various UN positions.
Mr. Neven Pelicaric, Adviser to the President of Croatia for Foreign and European Policy, welcomed the collaboration and encouraged Ambassador Kondolo to explore key cooperation areas within the Croatian economy.
He also commended Zambia for its unity in cultural diversity, which fosters better understanding between peoples.
