BUTEC Expands Presence in Southern Africa, Focusing on Construction and Technical Services
BUTEC, a leading specialist contracting group, is set to enhance its footprint in Southern Africa, bolstering its support for the region’s construction and multi-technical services sectors.
The move comes as South Africa prepares for accelerated growth and development, positioning BUTEC to play a pivotal role through strengthened synergies and strategic rebranding of acquired local companies.
Founded over 60 years ago and headquartered in Dubai and Beirut, BUTEC operates across 21 countries in the Middle East and Africa. Following its recent acquisitions in South Africa, including Thermaire Investments and Ampair, BUTEC has embarked on a comprehensive integration and rebranding effort.
The company has renamed Thermaire Investments to IES under the BUTEC brand, focusing on electro-mechanical solutions, and rebranded Ampair to BUTEC Services, emphasizing facility management and maintenance.
“We see immense potential in South Africa and its neighboring countries,” remarked Fady Abou Jaoude, Director of BUTEC. “As one of Africa’s largest electro-mechanical contractors and service providers, BUTEC is committed to driving sustainable development and innovation in the region. Our expansion aims to harness local talent, create employment opportunities, and contribute to regional prosperity.”
BUTEC’s expansion strategy includes leveraging local resources and expertise to foster economic growth and development. The company already employs a workforce of 400 locally and plans to further enhance its workforce development through initiatives like the BUTEC Academy, which offers accredited training programs to nurture skilled artisans.
In addition to its operational expansion, BUTEC has launched the Employee Share Trust to support black female employees and has invested significantly in youth employment programs, generating over 154 job opportunities since 2022.
These initiatives underscore BUTEC’s commitment to inclusive growth and empowerment within the communities it serves.
“We are excited about our role in building the future of Southern Africa,” Abou Jaoude added. “Through strategic investments and partnerships, BUTEC aims to accelerate the region’s growth trajectory while upholding our commitment to excellence and sustainability.”
