Ecobank Zambia Supports MSME Growth with ZMW 50,000 Donation
Ecobank Zambia has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) by donating Fifty Thousand Kwacha (ZMW 50,000) to a Capacity Building Training Programme aimed at enhancing entrepreneurial skills.
This initiative is in partnership with the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development and CNC360 Consulting Limited, forming a Public-Private Partnership designed to stimulate pivotal growth within Zambia’s MSME sector.
Mrs Glenda Kamalata, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Ecobank, expressed confidence that this donation would significantly contribute to providing structured capacity building.
“This support will equip MSMEs with the necessary competences to run successful enterprises,” she stated.
Ms Kamalata further highlighted the fundamental importance of the MSME sector to Ecobank, noting its critical role in Zambia’s economic development.
“MSMEs enhance production, generate employment and income, and contribute to the nation’s export earnings,” she added.
Over 250 Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives participated in the recent Capacity Building Programme held at the Royal Solwezi Hotel in the North-Western Province. SMEs, often considered the backbone of any growing economy, play a substantial role in the employment value chain.
