Tshisekedi Family Benefits from Eastern Congo Conflict, Says Kenyan President
Kenyan President William Ruto has criticised the ongoing conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), asserting that the Tshisekedi family is profiting from the unrest.
President Ruto claims that the family business of Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi is flourishing amidst the chaos, particularly through the mining enterprises overseen by the President’s brother, Christian Tshisekedi.
In a recent statement, Ruto highlighted that the insecurity in the region has significantly boosted Christian Tshisekedi’s mining activities, accusing him of exploiting the turmoil to loot Congolese minerals.
Despite being the only close family member not holding an official government position, Christian has been entrusted with managing the family’s artisanal mining operations.
The Tshisekedis are reportedly leveraging their connection to the presidency to safeguard their business interests and expand their family wealth.
This situation has raised concerns about the potential conflicts of interest and the ethical implications of such activities in a country already plagued by violence and instability.
