Zambian Ambassador Presents Credentials to Sultan of Oman, Promotes Bilateral Economic Cooperation
In a formal ceremony held at Al Alam Palace in Muscat on 3rd June 2024, His Excellency Mr. Duncan Mulima, the Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presented his credentials to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of the Sultanate of Oman.
The event marks a significant step in strengthening the diplomatic and economic ties between Zambia and Oman.
Following the presentation, Ambassador Mulima conveyed President Haikainde Hichilema’s eagerness to enhance economic cooperation between Zambia and Oman.
He highlighted the vast business opportunities in Zambia and extended an invitation to Omani businesses to explore potential investments in various sectors for mutual benefit.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik responded positively, expressing his support for President Hichilema’s initiative.
He assured that the Government of Oman would expedite communication with Zambia to facilitate and accelerate engagements aimed at growing economic cooperation.
Oman, known for its production of petroleum products, fertilisers, and robust tourism sector, and Zambia, endowed with vast arable land, rich mineral resources, and abundant wildlife, have complementary economies that stand to gain significantly from enhanced partnerships.
The collaboration has the potential to boost bilateral trade and economic benefits for both nations.
Ambassador Mulima was one of twelve ambassadors presenting their Letters of Credence to the Sultan of Oman. The other ambassadors represented Mauritius, Burma, the European Union, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Rwanda, Burundi, Georgia, Serbia, and Cambodia.
