Four Members of Parliament Involved in Serious Road Accident on Kabwe-Ndola Road
Masala Traffic authorities have reported a grave road accident occurring on June 3, 2024, around 2:00 PM along the Kabwe-Ndola road, opposite HBB Milling in Ndola.
The incident involved three motor vehicles, leaving several individuals injured, including four Members of Parliament.
The first vehicle involved was a Toyota Fortuner with registration number AJF7563, driven by Mr. Maybe Christine, aged 41, from Lusaka. Mr. Christine emerged unharmed, with only a scratched rear bumper.
However, riding in the same vehicle was Honorable Dr. Mwanza MP Kaumbwe, aged 52, who sustained general body pains. He received treatment at Ndola Teaching Hospital, and his condition is currently stable.
The second vehicle, also a Toyota Fortuner with registration number AJF7560, was driven by Mr. Frank Mumba, aged 48, from Garden House in Lusaka. Mr. Mumba escaped uninjured, but the vehicle suffered significant damage to its front right fender, grill, bonnet, and bumper.
On board were two passengers, Honorable Singombe Edgar MP Dundumwezi and Honorable Mweene Fred, aged 54 MP Mangango, both of whom sustained suspected internal body injuries. They are presently under observation at Ndola Teaching Hospital, where their conditions are reported to be stable.
The third vehicle involved, another Toyota Fortuner with registration number AJF7583, was driven by Mr. Nazar Danny Mwila, aged 44, of Kabwata, Lusaka. Fortunately, Mr. Mwila escaped unscathed.
However, Honorable Mulundu Darius, aged 55 MP Siavonga, who was a passenger in the vehicle, sustained suspected internal body injuries and has been admitted for observation.
Copperbelt Police commanding officer, Peacewell Mweemba, reported that the accident occurred as all three vehicles were traveling from south to north along the road.
The driver of the second vehicle misjudged the clearance distance or speed of the first vehicle in front, resulting in a collision with its rear. Subsequently, the third vehicle collided with the rear of the second vehicle, exacerbating the severity of the accident.
Authorities are actively investigating the incident, while measures are being taken to ensure the well-being of those injured in the accident. Our thoughts are with all those affected, and we hope for their speedy recovery.
