Malawi to Host Pioneering Environmental, Social, and Governance Summit

Malawi is set to host its first-ever Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Integration and Investment Forum 2024, aimed at promoting sustainable development.

Organized by Innotec Creative Solutions (ICS) Africa, the event will take place at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) from June 19th to 20th.

Speaking with Malawi24, ICS Africa’s Head of Operations, Annie Feza, highlighted the forum’s primary goal: to foster dialogue and collaboration among government officials, businesses, investors, and other key stakeholders.

The event aims to showcase best practices and innovative solutions for integrating ESG principles in Malawi.

“This forum is built against the backdrop of a paradigm shift in business and investment practices,” Feza explained. “There is increasing external pressure on governments, the corporate sector, and investors to place ESG principles at the core of their operational strategies.”

Feza elaborated on the ESG focus areas, stating, “ESG focuses on enhancing environmental conservation, promoting social equity, and strengthening corporate governance across diverse industries.”

She noted that the integration of these principles has gained significant momentum globally, particularly in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. Stakeholders are increasingly recognizing ESG’s potential to drive sustainable economic growth and address systemic risks.

“ESG has emerged as a mission-critical strategy for governments, businesses, and investors worldwide,” Feza continued. “Its potential to drive long-term value creation, mitigate risks, and address critical environmental and social challenges is becoming widely acknowledged.”

Innotec Creative Solutions (ICS) Africa, a leading socio-economic research and advisory organization, is at the forefront of this initiative.

The organization collaborates with experts globally to research, debate, and provide sustainable solutions to the challenges facing African society.
