President Hichilema Welcomes New Diplomats to Zambia
President Hakainde Hichilema welcomed new diplomatic representatives from Rwanda, France, and the United Arab Emirates during a formal ceremony at the State House.
The event saw the presentation of letters of credence by the High Commissioner and Ambassadors designate to the Republic of Zambia.
Among the distinguished diplomats were His Excellency Mr. Emmanuel Bugingo, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Zambia; His Excellency Mr. Thomas-Marie Rossignol, Ambassador of the Republic of France to Zambia; and His Excellency Dr. Jasim Mohamed Mubaraki, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Zambia.
In his address, President Hichilema lauded Rwanda’s significant progress across various sectors of its economy.
He emphasized the importance of peer-to-peer learning between Zambia and Rwanda, expressing optimism about strengthening mutual and bilateral cooperation.
Highlighting the robust relations between Zambia and France, President Hichilema expressed gratitude for the continuous support from the French government.
He specifically acknowledged France’s pivotal role as co-chair of the official creditors’ committee that facilitated Zambia’s debt restructuring agreement under the G20 Common Framework.
Turning to the United Arab Emirates, President Hichilema underscored Zambia’s commitment to collaborate closely on both bilateral and multilateral levels.
He stressed the need for joint efforts in promoting sustainable development and addressing global challenges, particularly climate change.
President Hichilema concluded by wishing the new envoys a successful tenure in Zambia, expressing confidence that their presence would further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Zambia and their respective countries.
