Northern Province Farmers Assured of Faster Payments for Maize Sales to FRA
Farmers in Zambia’s Northern Province can breathe a sigh of relief as the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) guarantees prompt payments for maize delivered during this year’s marketing season.
Timothy Chanda, the FRA’s Northern Province Marketing Coordinator, assured farmers that this year’s payments will be processed significantly faster, aiming for a turnaround time of no more than three days.
To facilitate these quicker transactions, the FRA has implemented various payment methods including bank deposits, mobile money transfers, mobile warrants, and cash payments over the counter.
Additionally, the agency has partnered with local banks to streamline the disbursement process.
Chanda urged farmers to sell their maize to the FRA, highlighting the agency’s commitment to timely payments and offering them a reliable market.
He also hinted at the possibility of the FRA purchasing other crops, subject to the announcement of floor prices.
These prices will ultimately determine which additional crops the agency will include in its purchasing program.
