Zambian President attends Church Service, Vows to Uphold Christian Values

President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia joined hundreds of worshippers at a Catholic service in Mongu Parish. The President expressed his appreciation for the church’s efforts to incorporate traditional elements and promote gender equality within their services.

He described these practices as commendable and worthy of emulation, not just within the church, but also in government.

During the service, Bishop Chinyemba spoke about the qualities of a “Good Shepherd,” highlighting servitude, social justice, honesty, unity, love, forgiveness, and reconciliation as core values.

President Hichilema echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of love and service for those in leadership positions.

He stated that true leaders cannot serve the people effectively without hard work and integrity.

The President reaffirmed his commitment to these principles, acknowledging that the government and the church ultimately serve the same Zambian community and share the same goals.

His attendance at the service and his subsequent remarks suggest a willingness to embrace Christian values in his administration.
