Algerian Ambassador Makes Farewell Visit to Zambia
His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Saadi, the Algerian Ambassador to Zambia, recently concluded his diplomatic assignment and paid a farewell visit to Zambia’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe.
During the meeting, Minister Haimbe expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Saadi for his efforts in strengthening the relationship between Zambia and Algeria.
He specifically acknowledged the Ambassador’s role in reviving the scholarship program, which has been instrumental in developing Zambia’s workforce across various critical fields.
The Minister echoed President Hakainde Hichilema’s message highlighting the importance of peace and stability as cornerstones for development.
He further emphasized the need for an economic approach to address challenges faced at both national and continental levels.
Additionally, the Minister congratulated Algeria on its recent election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to strengthening relations and cooperation with Algeria on both a bilateral and multilateral level.
In response, Ambassador Saadi expressed his appreciation to the Zambian government for reopening the Algerian Embassy in Lusaka.
He also highlighted the progress made in renewing the scholarship program in Zambia.
The Ambassador fondly mentioned the visit by Zambia’s National Assembly Speaker, Mrs. Nelly Mutti, to Algeria in May 2023.
He concluded by assuring the Minister that his successor would continue building upon the strong foundation established to further enhance the existing cordial relations between Zambia and Algeria.
