Hon. Nzovu Advocates for Ongoing Government-WWF Collaboration to Advance Environmental Sustainability
The Minister of Green Economy and Environment, Hon. Eng. Collins Nzovu MP, has emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between the Government of Zambia and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Zambia to further environmental sustainability initiatives in the country.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Country Director of WWF Zambia, Ms. Nalucha Nganga Ziba, the Honourable Minister highlighted the positive relationship that has existed between the government and WWF in the past.
He urged Ms. Ziba to continue fostering this collaboration to drive socio-economic development through environmental conservation efforts.
Hon. Nzovu underscored the significance of enhancing cooperation, noting that WWF serves as the Co-Chair of the Environmental Sustainability Cluster, representing the private sector, while the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment represents the government.
This partnership is crucial for advancing the objectives outlined in the Eighth National Development Plan, particularly those related to environmental sustainability.
Ms. Ziba affirmed WWF’s commitment to supporting the implementation of programs, projects, and activities aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainable development in Zambia.
She expressed readiness to work closely with the Ministry to achieve shared goals and contribute to the country’s green economy agenda.
The cordial and collaborative working relationship between the Government and WWF is expected to bolster Cluster 3 Environmental Sustainability’s efforts in realizing its developmental aspirations, ultimately contributing to the overall socio-economic progress of Zambia.
