Big Win Philanthropy Elevates Early Childhood Development
A delegation from Big Win Philanthropy, led by Senior Program Director Mr. Eddie Kariisa, extended a visit to the Lusaka City Council (LCC) to engage with stakeholders on the Early Childhood Development (ECD) landscape in Zambia.
The visit, coordinated through the Office of Her Worship the Mayor of Lusaka, Ms. Chilando Chitangala, aimed to deepen understanding and foster partnerships in the crucial area of early childhood development.
During the visit, discussions were held with key stakeholders in the ECD sector, including representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Community Development, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Ministry of Education, and the Presidential Delivery Unit.
Also actively involved in the dialogue were prominent organizations such as UNICEF and the World Food Programme.
Mayor Chilando Chitangala expressed appreciation for the collaboration with Big Win Philanthropy and called for more organizations to join hands with the government in supporting initiatives that enhance the physical and cognitive health outcomes of children aged 0-6 years.
Emphasizing the significance of the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, she highlighted the critical role played by Early Childhood Development in ensuring long-term cognitive development, productivity, and social cohesion.
The partnership is expected to focus on implementing programs and interventions that positively impact early childhood development.
Mayor Chitangala stressed the importance of collective efforts in creating an environment that fosters optimal growth and well-being for the youngest members of the community.
Present during the visit were Mr. Eddie Karissa, Director of Big Win Philanthropy, accompanied by Ms. Judith Kanyanda, Chief Community Development Officer, and Ms. Bwalya Funga and Ms. Evelyn Musonda, Senior Community Development Officers at Lusaka City Council.
