Bangweulu Constituency witnesses a positive milestone as Samfya District Commissioner Kayula Mulenga commends Mumwi General Dealers, a local contractor, for their praiseworthy endeavors in reconstructing the Kabwatila Bridge embankment.
In a significant development for the Kabwatila community in Mano Ward, Mulenga acknowledges the commendable efforts put forth by the local contractor in this crucial infrastructure project.
During a recent inspection of the bridge project, Mr. Mulenga expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the contractor. He conveyed optimism that once the reconstruction is complete, the people of Kabwatila will experience smoother and unhindered passage without facing any challenges.
Highlighting the historical challenges faced by the Kabwatila area in terms of road connectivity, Mr. Mulenga emphasized the significance of the ongoing bridge construction. He anticipates that the completed bridge will substantially improve accessibility to the region, resolving long-standing connectivity issues.
The Kabwatila Bridge project is being undertaken using the 2022 Constituency Development Fund, specifically allocated under the Disaster Component of the Constituency Development Fund.
Mr. Mulenga urged the District Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) Committee to proactively identify disaster-prone areas for preemptive mitigation efforts.
Emphasizing the importance of the Kabwatila Bridge to the local community, Samfya District DMMU Coordinator Obino Chikota commended the progress made by the contractor despite weather-related challenges.
Mr. Chikota expressed confidence that, with necessary adjustments and continued community involvement, the project will be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The Kabwatila Bridge holds particular significance for Mano Ward residents, especially farmers, as it addresses issues of flooding during the rainy season.
Once finished, the bridge is expected to serve as a crucial infrastructure improvement, preventing the isolation of the community during adverse weather conditions.
Mr. Chikota urged local residents to actively support the ongoing development initiatives, fostering a sense of ownership within the community.
The collaborative efforts of local contractors and community engagement showcased in the Kabwatila Bridge reconstruction project exemplify the potential for positive transformation and improved connectivity in the region.
