Zambia and Japan Commence Celebrations for 60 Years of Diplomatic Relations
Zambia and Japan have officially kicked off preparations to commemorate the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, unveiling a special anniversary logo during a ceremony at Charter House.
Ms. Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, Permanent Secretary of International Relations and Cooperation for Zambia, and His Excellency Mr. Takeuchi Kazuyuki, the Ambassador of Japan, graced the event.
During the second meeting of the Joint Executive Committee, co-chaired by representatives from both Zambia and Japan, Ms. Gundersen highlighted the enduring bilateral relations between the two nations.
These relations have led to significant achievements in various sectors, including agriculture, energy, health, education, infrastructure, and private sector development over the years.
The unveiling of the anniversary logo marks the initiation of a year-long series of activities that will take place in both Zambia and Japan, celebrating the historical ties that have strengthened over six decades.
Ms. Gundersen expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming celebrations and emphasized the importance of acknowledging the shared accomplishments and friendship between the two countries.
Ms. Gundersen, on behalf of the Zambian government, affirmed the commitment to collaborate with the Japanese Embassy and other committee members to ensure the success of the commemorative events.
The celebrations are expected to showcase the rich history of diplomatic relations and further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Zambia and Japan.
