President Hichilema Commends Over Enrollment in Schools

President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia has expressed contentment with over enrollment in schools, deeming it a “good problem.”

According to UPND Katuba Member of Parliament, Mwabashike Nkulukusa, President Hichilema sees this as a positive predicament that is being actively addressed by constructing additional classrooms.

President Hichilema has consistently prioritized education, aiming to ensure that all children have access to schooling. The Free Education Policy, a key initiative of his administration, reflects this commitment.

In response to the surge in enrollment leading to classroom congestion, the President is taking swift action to build more classrooms, utilizing the expanded Constituency Development Fund-CDF.

Mr. Nkulukusa commended President Hichilema’s dedication to addressing the challenge of crowded classrooms, emphasizing the importance of providing education to every child.

The aggressive approach to building additional classrooms is a testament to the government’s commitment to enhancing the education sector.

The UPND Katuba MP extended gratitude to ChildFund and the Transearch Foundation, led by Ulrich Ackermann and his wife from Germany, for their contributions to building extra classrooms in Chibombo District, Central Province.

The acknowledgment came during the handover of a newly constructed 1 by 2 classroom block at Katete Primary School in Mungule District, a project spearheaded by the Ackermanns.

Chibombo District Council Chairperson, Newton Nyeleti, also expressed appreciation for the significant contributions made by the Ackermanns to Zambia’s education sector.

The impact of their earlier project, Namununga School, was highlighted, including infrastructure such as classroom blocks, teachers’ houses, a health center with staff residences, a pre-school, a hammer mill, tuckshop, running water, and solar energy.
