Emirates Unveils Extensive Vegan Vault with 300 Recipes as Demand Increase by 40%

Emirates, a global leader in aviation, is responding to the rising demand for plant-based cuisine with the introduction of an impressive array of vegan dishes.

With a notable 40% surge in customer demand for plant-based meals, the airline is set to expand its ‘vegan vault,’ currently boasting over 300 curated plant-based recipes. This move aligns with the global trend of Veganuary, gaining popularity over the last decade.

In 2023 alone, Emirates served more than 450,000 plant-based meals on board, marking a substantial increase from 280,000 in 2022. The surge in vegan meal consumption has been particularly prominent in regions such as Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, with respective increases of 4%, 5%, and an impressive 34%. Notably, the trend is most pronounced in Economy Class.

Emirates has been proactive in meeting this growing demand, offering an extensive selection of vegan options in every class. Economy class passengers can now enjoy tantalizing dishes like chickpea crepes, pumpkin frittatas, tofu tikka masala, and chickpea kale stew, complemented by delectable desserts.

Premium Economy, Business, and First classes feature a range of curated vegan dishes, showcasing the airline’s commitment to providing diverse and high-quality plant-based options.

To cater to the discerning palate of its passengers, Emirates has partnered with renowned suppliers of vegan ingredients worldwide. Products from Beyond Meat in California, soybean protein from Singapore, Qian Ye pressed tofu from Japan, and organic dark vegan chocolate from France’s Linnolat are just a few examples.

Additionally, the airline sources fresh produce from Bustanica, the world’s largest hydroponic vertical farm, ensuring a farm-to-table experience for its customers.

Emirates, a pioneer in vegan cuisine since the 1990s, introduced a gourmet vegan menu in 2022 for First and Business Class passengers, reflecting the increasing interest in plant-based choices. The airline’s commitment to culinary excellence and sustainability is evident in its continuous efforts to source high-quality, diverse vegan ingredients globally.

Passengers flying with Emirates can pre-order vegan meals, ensuring a delightful and conscious culinary experience. The airline’s dedication to catering to various dietary preferences reinforces its position as a leading player in the aviation industry, providing passengers with an unparalleled journey that extends beyond the skies.
