 SADC Gears Up for Joint Ministerial Meeting on Health and HIV/AIDS

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is set to convene a Joint Meeting of the SADC Ministers of Health and Ministers responsible for HIV & AIDS on November 28th, 2023, in Luanda, Republic of Angola.

The meeting will serve as a platform for the Ministers to deliberate on crucial public health matters aimed at enhancing the overall quality of life for the people in the region. 

A primary focus will be placed on examining the current status of the implementation of decisions made during previous joint meetings, as well as conducting a comprehensive review of the State of Health in the SADC Region.

In addition to these deliberations, the Ministers will actively participate in the commemoration of SADC Malaria Day in Luanda on November 29th, 2023, emphasizing the commitment of the SADC community to combatting and preventing the spread of malaria within the region.

To facilitate a thorough discussion and decision-making process, the Ministers’ meeting will be preceded by a gathering of Senior Officials responsible for Health and HIV & AIDS from November 25th to 27th, 2023. 

During this preliminary meeting, officials will diligently prepare documents for Ministers, providing comprehensive insights and recommendations to guide discussions and strategic decision-making.

The anticipated joint ministerial meeting underscores SADC’s dedication to collaborative efforts in addressing critical health challenges, fostering regional cooperation, and ultimately improving the well-being of the communities within the Southern African Development Community.
