Saint Mawaggali Training Institute Elevates to Center of Excellence
Saint Mawaggali Training Institute has been accorded the prestigious status of a Center of Excellence. This recognition comes as a result of the institution’s commitment to maintaining high-quality training standards, as evidenced by the exceptional outputs and hands-on training activities of its students.
Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati, who officially launched the institute’s upgraded status in Choma, praised the college’s management, the Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA), and all stakeholders for their collaborative efforts.
Minister Mutati emphasized that excellence is not a destination but an ongoing process integral to the life of continuous learning.
Addressing the students, Minister Mutati encouraged them to embody excellence in their practical outputs, particularly in various entrepreneurial activities within society.
He further urged the college management to ensure a continuous performance assessment aligned with the outlined protocols to sustain its newfound center of excellence status.
However, Minister Mutati pointed out that failure to uphold the specified standards might result in the withdrawal of certification, accompanied by a monetary penalty.
On a positive note, he highlighted that maintaining the center of excellence status for three consecutive years would attract an additional motivational monetary reward.
To ensure sustainability, Minister Mutati recommended that the college explore commercial opportunities for its automated machinery to generate income.
He suggested leveraging these assets as both a revenue source and a measure of students’ skills and entrepreneurial activities.
Moreover, Minister Mutati encouraged the college management to explore opportunities for collaboration with the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and engage with local constituencies for earth-moving equipment repairs.
This initiative could potentially pave the way for the introduction of a heavy-duty engineering training program.
The Minister concluded by commending the collaboration between St. Mawaggali and Kasiya colleges under the Catholic partnership, facilitated under the auspices of the Archbishop of the Monze diocese.
The elevation of Saint Mawaggali Training Institute to a Center of Excellence marks a significant milestone in its pursuit of educational and training excellence.
