Police Arrest Five Suspected Criminal Leaders in Lusaka’s Desai and Shadreck Areas
Police in Lusaka have taken swift action, apprehending five individuals believed to be the ringleaders of a group responsible for targeting and robbing members of the public in the Desai and Shadreck areas.
In recent times, the Matero Police have observed a troubling rise in reports of violent attacks resulting in the theft of personal belongings in these two residential compounds.
The five apprehended suspects have been long-standing fugitives on the police’s most-wanted list. On October 26, 2023, at approximately 02:30 hours, law enforcement officers successfully located and arrested the suspects in the Madimba area of the Chunga compound.
The suspects arrested in Lusaka, namely Joseph Mwiinga, also known as Joe Selassie, aged 22 and residing in an unmarked house in Desai compound; Max Kapembwa, alias Cobra, aged 21, with an undisclosed house number in the Chibolya area of Matero township; Kangwa Chanda, aged 17, without a known house number in Chunga; Rodgers Simuyembe, also 17 years old and lacking a specific house number in Paradise compound; and Alex Kunda, aged 15 and residing in George compound without a specified house number, have all been apprehended and detained by the police on charges related to Aggravated Robbery, Robbery, and Unlawful Wounding.
At present, all five suspects are in police custody and are facing multiple charges, including Aggravated Robbery, Robbery, and Unlawful Wounding.
